I live outside Denmark. Can I volunteer?
The answer is, ‘possibly’, and depends on your citizenship.
In Denmark, volunteering is classed as work. This means that you need authorisation to work in Denmark in order to volunteer. Copenhagen Pride is obliged to ensure that all volunteers have the necessary authorisation in Denmark.
The following groups of people are eligible to volunteer at Copenhagen Pride:
- Citizens (i.e. passport holder) of Denmark or any other Nordic nation
- Citizens (i.e. passport holder) of any European Union nation
- Persons with a valid work permit for Denmark
If you do not fall into one of these three categories, you must apply for a work permit to volunteer in Denmark. This is a legal requirement under Danish immigration rules.
Following the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union (‘Brexit’), British citizens are not permitted to volunteer unless they also fall into one of the categories above.
Read more and apply on the Ny i Danmark website (in English).
Copenhagen Pride cannot issue letters of invitation to potential volunteers and is not able to assist with visa or work permit applications.
