Brandon Wolf (he/him) is a civil rights activist and survivor of the Pulse nightclub attack in Florida in 2016, and today he is Press Secretary of the Human Rights Campaign, at the forefront of legal challenges to anti-LGBTQIA+ moves by the US administration.
In 2019, he became the first survivor of the Pulse tragedy to testify before Congress and returned in 2022 to testify on the rise of anti-LGBTQIA+ hate violence before the House Oversight Committee. His moving and personal book, A Place for Us, was published in 2023.
He will share his story and his vital perspective on the current situation in the United States and the global impact this is having, as well as his own work at the Human Rights Campaign to challenge the most egregious cases.
Brandon will be welcomed to the stage by our host, and he will then deliver his lecture of around 45 minutes. After an interval, the host will join him on stage for a ‘fireside chat, to explore some of the themes from his lecture, and to invite questions from the audience.

When brave LGBTQIA+ people stood up to discrimination and police violence at the Stonewall Inn, New York, in June 1969, it led to the foundation of the Pride movement and today to June being recognised internationally as ‘Pride month’.
But with Copenhagen Pride happening in August, we are often asked why there are no events to mark ‘Pride month’ in June. And so this year we are doing something about it, creating a program of events with inspirational speakers from the global LGBTQIA+ community. It’s Pride: Out Loud!
In addition to this public event, the speakers will attend private meetings with community organisation, politicians, diplomats and others.
Copenhagen Pride is proud to work with Scandic Hotels, a presenting partner for Pride: Out Loud!
