Rules for participation in the Copenhagen Pride parade
We try to keep the rules as small as possible so people can focus on what’s important during the parade: having fun while making a difference.
The police and other authorities have set some rules that must be followed to the letter. Your parade guides take responsibility for adhering to and upholding the rules at all times – this is for your own safety, for the sake of all participants and to ensure that Copenhagen Pride is allowed to continue to be held in the future.
Mandatory Parade guide
In order to participate in the parade, all groups must designate:
- Two Parade guides per vehicle over 3500 kg
- One Parade guide for groups on foot for every 100 participants.
It is extremely important that Parade guides take their responsibility to contribute to safety seriously: this means that the Parade guide must:
- Attend an information meeting
- Remain sober
- Remind others in the groups of the rules so that safety is not compromised.
In the event that a group does not provide a parade guide, the participating group, organisation etc. will be removed from the Parade.
Rules during the parade itself
- Instructions from Copenhagen Pride representatives, parade guides and the police must be followed at all times
- There is zero-tolerance for people leaning over railings or crawling around on vehicles. Should we observe this behaviour, both participants and any vehicles will be removed from the parade immediately
- Please be aware of your surroundings and always give way to emergency vehicles!
- The parade does not repeal any existing legislation on indecent behaviour or similar
- The sound level of the music played from the vehicles must be at an “acoustic” level only. As a rule of thumb, you should not be heard from the previous or following participant vehicle
- Disposal of waste in other ways than via bins is not allowed. Remember to sort your waste according to the City of Copenhagen’s waste sorting rules
- If you spread glitter or confetti, it must be biodegradable
- It is not allowed to hand out any kind of samples or material (such as flyers).
Music fee
Copenhagen Pride pays KODA for their copyrights on all recorded or stored music played during the parade. If you bring a live band, it is your own responsibility to make sure that copyright payment agreements with KODA are made on your own.
Cost of participation
It is free for individuals and LGBTQIA+ organisations to participate in the parade. For all others, there will be a cost associated with participation. Contact us at [email protected] to learn more.
Individuals and small groups
Individuals or small groups of friends etc. do not need to register. Our parade route is not fenced and you are therefore free to join from the sides. However, you still need to follow instructions and rules in the same way as vehicles, large groups and organisations. You should be careful not to walk too close to vehicles for your own as well as the safety of others.
Companies and employee groups that are partners of Copenhagen Pride are welcome to sign up. No other companies or employee groups are allowed in the parade and will be asked to leave.
Vehicles
As part of our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, we were the first Pride in the world to remove diesel and gasoline vehicles from our parade. By 2023, all vehicles in our parade must be electric.
Parade guides
Due to the size of the parade and for safety reasons, all participating large groups, companies and organisations must provide a parade guide.
Below you can see how many parade guides you need to provide.
Walking group of max. 100 people | 1 parade guide. |
Walking group of over 100 people. | 101-200 participants = 2 parade guides, 201-300 participants = 3 parade guides and so on |
Walking group with a vehicle under 3500 kg. | Parade guides corresponding to the number of walking participants + 1 parade guide per vehicle |
Walking group with vehicle over 3500 kg. | Parade guides corresponding to the number of walking participants + 2 parade guides per vehicle |
Vehicle and equipment rental
We strongly recommend that you do not enter into any vehicle or equipment rental agreements until we have confirmed your place in the parade. After confirmation, we will send you information about our recommended suppliers and the requirements for vehicles etc.
Confirmation and parade order
We inform each group about their position in the parade in late June. For security reasons, we do not publish the full line-up for the parade until mid-August.
