About Copenhagen Pride

Copenhagen Pride was founded in 1996 to build on the public demonstrations for LGBTQIA+ equality and human rights that began in the early 1970s.

Today Copenhagen Pride is Denmark’s biggest human rights event and the largest free Pride in Scandinavia. We hosted WorldPride in 2021 and EuroPride in 1996.

Our organisation us run by a volunteer Board, volunteer Area Managers, and a small Secretariat.

Describing Copenhagen Pride

Our organisation is called ‘Copenhagen Pride’; we don’t use ‘København Pride’. We organise Copenhagen Pride Week in August, and Copenhagen Winter Pride in February.

If you wish to include an acronym to describe the community, please use LGBTQIA+. We are not ‘gay pride’ and should not be described in this way as it excludes a majority of people in our community.

Accreditation

Applications for media accreditation for Copenhagen Pride in August 2025 will open in May 2025.
