Become part of Copenhagen Pride’s new Safer Space team

We are currently looking for dedicated volunteers for our new Safer Space initiative to ensure that our guests have a safe and enjoyable experience during Copenhagen Pride Week 2023.

As part of Copenhagen Pride’s Safer Space team, you will be running our Safer Space tent and be our eyes and ears on site. The team is there as a comfort for guests who may need it, have a chat, and be available for whatever may arise. The team is in close dialog with the rest of the security team and will never be left alone with the task.

In collaboration with Købehavns Frie Promotorer, we offer training in conflict management, caring communication, discrimination and bias, and more. This will ensure that you are well equipped to meet our guests where they are and help provide care for them.

If you are interested in learning more, you can reach out to event coordinator Lea Hedeskov at lea.hedeskov@copenhagenpride.dk

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is welcoming and motivated to provide care and look after the well-being of our guests. It is a plus if you have experience from other care and social work, or relevant professional skills such as nurse, SoSu assistant or similar.

To create the best conditions, it is important for us to establish a team with a wide diversity and we encourage anyone who might be interested to apply. The minimum age for being part of our Safer Space Team is 25.

As the team will have to handle sensitive tasks and deal with high-pressure situations, we have ongoing screening interviews to ensure that we get the right people on board.

Practicalities

As part of the Safer Space Team, you must be able to take 2-3 shifts during the event (August 12-20, 2023), one of which must be on a Friday or Saturday. At the same time, it is important that you are able to attend the training on Saturday, June 10.

If this sounds like something for you, please send an email to event coordinator Lea Hedeskov at lea.hedeskov@copenhagenpride.dk, where you briefly explain why you are motivated to become part of our Safer Space Team and an overview of relevant experience.

We call for interviews on an ongoing basis.
