H.R.H Crown Princess Mary becomes protector of Copenhagen 2021

PRESS RELEASE: Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess of Denmark becomes Patron of Copenhagen 2021, celebrating WorldPride & EuroGames simultaneously in Copenhagen and Malmö in August 2021.

With the patronage, the Crown Princess takes on the task of sharing the message that in 2021, Copenhagen will host the largest international human rights event of that year, that fights to ensure equal rights for LGBTI+ people all around the world.

As a Dane, I’m proud that Copenhagen is hosting WorldPride and EuroGames in the summer of 2021. We cannot accept that people around the world are harassed and discriminated against just because of their sexuality or gender identity. I look forward to celebrating diversity together and ensuring respect for LGBTI rights, in Denmark and internationally. Leading up to and during Copenhagen 2021 there will be many important and festive events, which will be a joy for me, to be a part of” says Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess of Denmark.

Royal inspiration

As patron of Copenhagen 2021, the expectations from the organizers are that Her Royal Highness will sustain the LGBTI+ community in their persistent fight for ensuring equal rights and help set that struggle on the international agenda. All in all, will the engagement of the Crown Princess as patron of Copenhagen 2021 serve as a crucial inspiration for the entire world.

Copenhagen 2021 is very excited with The Crown Princess’s patronage as the international LGBTI+ event works to secure better and equal rights for LGBTI+ people around the world. Copenhagen 2021 is doing that by continuing to draw attention to the harassment and discrimination faced by LGBTI+ people and by making the human rights debate the central topic of Copenhagen 2021.

Copenhagen 2021 is going on in Copenhagen and Malmö in August 12-22 in 2021.

Copenhagen 2021 takes place on 12-22, August 2021 in Copenhagen and Malmö celebrating WorldPride and Eurogames simultaneously. It is the first time ever that WorldPride and EuroGames are celebrated at the same time.

EuroGames in 2021 offers competitions in 29 sports, a sports leader’s conference and a large public sports program – Sports to the People – across Copenhagen and Malmö. Pan Idraet is the host organization for EuroGames, licensed by the organization EGLSF.

WorldPride holds a major Human Rights Forum consisting of a three-day Human Rights Conference, a Democracy Festival, and a Interparliamentary Plenary Session held at the Danish Parliament. WorldPride also contains a comprehensive arts program, and of course the final march – the Pride Parade – that runs through Copenhagen. Copenhagen Pride is the hosting organization for WorldPride, which is licensed by the organization InterPride.
